Day 4: The Antichrist – The Rise of Evil in the Last Days

Scripture:

1 John 2:18-22 (KJV)

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Reflection:

The Antichrist is a figure in biblical prophecy who will rise up during the end times, leading many away from Christ. While there is a future Antichrist who will emerge, John reminds us that the spirit of the Antichrist is already at work in the world, with people denying the truth of Jesus Christ. Believers must be vigilant, holding firm to the truth and not being swayed by false teachings. This serves as a reminder to be rooted in God’s Word and to discern the truth in an age of deception.

Action Step:

Examine your faith and how deeply rooted you are in the truth of Christ. Are there areas where false teachings or distractions have led you away from the truth? Spend time in prayer, asking God to help you stay grounded in His Word and to guard you from deception.

Prayer:

Lord, protect me from the lies of the enemy and the spirit of the Antichrist. Strengthen my faith and help me to remain firm in the truth of Your Word. I trust in You to keep me from being deceived and to guide me in the last days.
